Getting the Most Out of Your MAG365

You've picked up your award-winning MAG365 - now what? Making the most of your MAG365 ionic magnesium citrate is easier than you think.

Put MAG365 powder in your cup, add water, wait until the product goes from cloudy to clear (this means it is fully ionized) and enjoy!  

Mixing in Hot Water vs. Cold Water 

In Hot Water: The ionic process takes approximately 15 seconds when added to hot water.  It will fizz so only add a bit of water and pour slowly.  You only need enough hot water to activate it before adding to the beverage of your choice.  MAG365 holds up just as well in hot water as minerals can withstand high temperatures.

In Cold Water: The process can take up to 30 minutes when added to cold water and there is no noticeable fizz. The colder the water, the longer it will take.  You will know when it is ready because the liquid will turn from cloudy to clear. 

Somewhere in Between: You can use any temperature of water you desire, but the colder the water, the longer it takes to ionize.  Just remember that as long as your MAG365 is clear, it's ready to drink!

What Happens if You Don't Activate MAG365 Before Drinking It?

The magic of MAG365 is the fizzing; when you add it to hot water, the magnesium carbonate interacts with the citric acid - the only two ingredients in our MAG365 formulation -  and creates a fizz.  This reaction happens when the carbonate disperses and the magnesium ion binds to the citric acid.  This is what creates the multi award-winning formula that is unique to MAG365 and ensures your MAG365 is absorbable, effective and fast-acting.

If you drink your MAG365 before activating it, it will hit the warm environment of your stomach and activate there.  This can cause bloating, stomach upset, and bowel discomfort.

How Much Water Should You Add?

Add as little or as much as you wish!  Make sure to add enough at first to give the powder enough space to activate.  Again, the liquid should be clear before consuming.  You can drink with as much or as little water as you wish, but some people find they prefer it with more to help facilitate its passage throughout the body.  If you prefer, you can take with a minimal amount of water and drink more water after consuming your MAG365.

Some prefer to mix it in a large water bottle and drink it somewhat diluted, while giving their body a nice steady stream of MAG365 all day long.

What Can You Mix MAG365 With?

MAG365 can be enjoyed hot or cold.  It can be consumed plain, with herbal tea, juice, fizzy water or your favourite beverage. 

MAG365 can also be added to chia seeds to make a gel.  Simply activate your MAG365 in 3/4 cup of water and add 2 TBSP of chia seeds.  Stir and let sit for 15 minutes.  This gel can be added to cereal, yoghurt, pudding, drinks, oatmeal, muffins, etc. You will want to add more than one serving of MAG365 as you likely wont use this up in one sitting.  Chia gel lasts up to two weeks in the fridge, but your magnesium will turn from ionic magnesium citrate back into regular magnesium citrate within approximately 48 hours. If you would like to make less, use a ratio of 1 part chia seeds to 6 parts water.  

MAG365 can be pre-mixed and kept in the fridge.  It will start to lose its ionic state and will eventually turn into regular magnesium citrate so it's recommended to consume it within 48 hours for best results. It will still be a safe and viable supplement - it just won't be as bioavailable to your body as ionic magnesium citrate.

How Much MAG365 Should You Take?

It is best to start with 1/4 - 1/2 of the recommended dosage and work your way up slowly so your system has time to adjust. If you take more than your body can handle while it is getting used to this great new feeling of magnesium, you might find yourself running to the bathroom more times than you would care to. If you start slowly, this won't be a problem. When your bowels are comfortably loose, you are at your optimal dosage. 

Magnesium needs can vary in individuals and can change with stress, illness, emotional upheaval, exercise and other life factors.  In short, your body uses a lot! 

Don't be afraid to experiment with your dosage to find the right amount for your needs.  Unless you have kidney issues, it is almost impossible to take too much magnesium as your body will flush out what it can't use, and many users benefit from taking a higher dose. 

When Should You Drink Your MAG365?

Whenever is most convenient for you.  MAG365 can be taken with or away from food.

Many users like to take it before bed as it relaxes their nerves.  Some people find it gives them energy and prefer to take it earlier in the day.  PrizMAG pure magnesium bisglycinate is often taken before bed as it's an especially excellent (and award winning) sleep aid.

Your body loves a good steady stream of magnesium as is present in every cell and 80% of your body's metabolic functions need magnesium.  That's approximately 1000 enzyme processes!

With this in mind, many customers split their dosage or add their MAG365 to their water bottle and sip it throughout the day.  It is delicious on its own or with added fruits such as berries, lemon or cucumber.  

Adding to your water bottle means that your body is getting a constant stream throughout the day - something your cells love!  The benefit of this is that your body can use it all, as what doesn't get utilized gets flushed out of your system through your urine.  This means if you take more than your body can manage at one time you may not be able to utilize it all.

Can you take more than one kind of magnesium?

Absolutely.  Many of our staff members take more than one of our magnesium forms, and one of our owners takes a full dose MAG365 BF in the morning and PrizMAG before bed.  Why?  She loves to start her routine of a hot cup of MAG365, which gives her a good dose of magnesium to start the day, and then PrizMAG before bed ensures a good night's sleep.  This equates to approximately 700mg of magnesium per day, which she feels is what her body does best on, based on the "comfortably loose stool" test.  Although this seems like a lot, Dr Carolyn Dean talks about how important magnesium is in her booth "The Magnesium Miracle," as well as how many of us need more than the RDA set out by governing bodies. Before making any significant changes, it is important that you talk to your doctor about your magnesium needs, especially if you have kidney issues.

How Many Capsules Should You Take?

Any magnesium is better than none, but to truly get the most of your PrizMAG, we recommend four capsules before bed.  Four of our capsules contains the full three grams of glycine, which was proven in studies to be an effective amount for a deep and restful sleep.  Four capsules contains 320mg of magnesium, which is close to the recommended daily intake of 375mg.  PrizMAG has the added benefit of being gentle on your digestive system, which means you won't experience loose stools.


What about PrizMAG Powder?

PrizMAG Powder is an economical way to enjoy the sleep-inducing benefits of award-winning PrizMAG; however it has a rather unpleasant taste and doesn't mix as well as MAG365.  This option is for those who can't or don't want to swallow capsules, as well as those looking to maximize their supplement budget.  PrizMAG Powder does not need to be ioinsed like MAG365, and thus can be taken any way you wish, either with liquid or mixed with food such as applesauce.   


When Should You Take PrizMAG?

Your body loves a steady stream of magnesium throughout the day, so you could split your dosage accordingly.  However, if you are taking it primarily for sleep, we recommend you take all four capsules before bed.  Some people find they like to take it an hour or so before bed.  Others find it gives them a little boost of energy, similar to a caffeine buzz, and they prefer to take it right before they intend to sleep.  Experiment around and see what works for you!


One Final Note

There are other magnesium bisglycinate supplements on the market that don't seem to work as well for sleep.  We believe it has to do with the purity of the product.  Not only does our PrizMAG contain absolutely no fillers, binders, flow agents or excipients, but it also contains no magnesium oxide, which greatly reduces the effectiveness of the product.  The trouble is, labels don't always disclose this fact.
